Ron Paul

Ron Paul appears to be the only candidate campaigning in California - at least he's the only guy running radio spots. I like his latest:

- Ron Paul favors a strong nationtal defense.
- Ron Paul would not close any domestic military bases.
- Ron Paul supports stealth warriors to hunt down terrorists dead or alive.
- Ron Paul would secure borders.
- Ron Paul would ban student visa for terrorist nations.
- Ron Paul would end government spending that continues to put us in debt to China and Saudi Arabia.
- Ron Paul has the highest donations among all candidates from active military members.

I really like that part about 'stealth warriors.'

Stealth Warriors? That's awesome.

"Stealth warriors" sounds like someone has been watching too much TV. Next thing you know he'll be calling for Ninjas to hunt down OBL.

Here is what I wrote about Ron Paul on my blog: http://mark24609.blogspot.com/2008/01/best-man-for-job-mitt-romney.html

Ron Paul – He does keep the debates lively, but he is a terrorist's best friend. He doesn't believe we should be anywhere except at home. I just wish Fox would have granted him the same courtesy ABC did, and not allow him in the debates. You know there is a problem when his followers are the neo-Nazis, the 9/11 truthers, and every other fringe group on the planet.

The most recent group to endorse him was the bunny ranch in Nevada (prostitution.) He has no qualms in accepting money from these groups.

I actually like some of Ron Paul's libertarian ideas about monetary policy, less spending and his reasons for the devaluation of the dollar.

But, he doesn't believe in supporting Israel. He doesn't believe our forces should be anywhere abroad. He doesn't believe that we should be giving money to any country (in some part I agree with that) but that includes Israel and Pakistan allies that would be slaughtered if we withdrew our support.

The most important aspect of a President right now is how he/she is on foreign policy, and Ron Paul would be a disaster. He would be inviting another attack on US soil.

The impression I got from listening to talk radio was the same as you just wrote. Hearing him talk about foreign policy on the other hand made a lot of sense, which is basically: no occupational forces abroad. That's fine with me, a little bit more of a return to the Monroe Doctrine.

The Monroe doctrine was a result of the European powers colonizing Africa, India and other nations for the purpose of raping those countries of their resources. Colonialism became a competitive force among European nations. This is not what the US does. If we entered World War 2 in the 1930s when Hitler broke the treaty of versailles and began rearming, we could have save millions of Jews, but the left preventing us from doing so until we were bombed. We are not a colonial power in Iraq. We are there because we were attacked and Sadaam was a sponsor of terrorism (He was paying families of suicide bombers.) We are also there to protect our strategic interests - oil. If we left, and Iran took over the oil, it would become a base for Al-Queda, and Iran would be a force to be reckoned with. But, we are not raping their country, we are trying to stabilize it. I don
t agree with everything Bush has done in prosecuting the war, but the change in strategy has worked. If Iran obtains a Nuclear Weapon, are you really going to want us to stay home and wait until one is detonated in the US? If that happens, our lifes will change in ways you can't even imagine, and we will never recover in our lifetime. The job of the president is to protect us from such a scenario. Ron Paul doesn't even believe we are in a war on terror. He believes in the Kumbaya politics of being able to carry on a dialogue with every rogue dictator that wants to kill us. Both Prime Minister Chamberlain of England and Stalin of Russia tried this and it didn't work. Clinton tried it with Korea and they now have the Nuclear bomb. You can't always stay home. Islam only understands strength, that is why they taunt us, they know they can get away with it. They laugh at us while they continue to prepare for our annihalation. Ahjmadinejad denies the holocaust while he prepares for another. Love the debate.
